A year of practice built on four precepts and twelve principles, for accomplished people whose lives still work and have stopped asking anything new of them. It comes in two forms: Mastery Lessons Guild, the year on your own, and the Council, the coached year in a small room of peers.
Who is it for?
Capable, self-aware people whose identity built the success and has stopped carrying the life. Most are in the second half of life; some arrived there early, after a loss, an illness or a sudden end. Executives, founders, physicians, attorneys, investors and coaches, women and men alike. Many have read the books and done the retreats, and changed little about how they live.
How do the Guild and the Council differ?
The map is the same. The help differs. The Guild is $1,000, taken on your own, with a practice kit every month, the Daimon and a community, and no coaching. The Council is the year with the author of the Code: two 100-minute sessions and a 30-minute Reading every month, a practice partner each quarter, and a room of eight to twelve peers. It is offered primarily by invitation, with an application route through the Debrief.
How much time does it take?
About five minutes a day for First Light and The Account, a weekly review, and the month’s practice, which is built to fit inside the life you already have. Council members add two sessions and a Reading each month.
Is this therapy?
No. It is coaching and education under Board Certified Coach standards, and it diagnoses and treats nothing. If something in the year calls for a clinician, you will be encouraged to see a qualified professional where you live. Mastery Code keeps no referral list. If you ask, we can help you think through how to choose one.
Is Who Is Holding the Pen? a psychological test?
No. It is a reflective assessment. It names patterns worth considering and gives no diagnosis, no clinical assessment and no score.
Do I need a wearable?
It is encouraged and not required. Oura, WHOOP and Garmin are supported. The device is not included, and its data stays with you.
Who reads what I tell the Daimon?
In the Guild, the author of the Code does not read your conversations. In the Council, he reads them periodically and before each Reading. Either way, the Daimon runs on Delphi, a commercial service that stores conversations under its own terms. Keep health and money figures and other people’s private lives out of it.
What does it cost?
The weekly essay, the guides, Who Is Holding the Pen? and the flourishing measure are free. The Debrief is $250, credited in full toward the Guild or the Council within 60 days. The Guild is $1,000. The Council’s investment is discussed in the first conversation.
What if I need to stop?
The Guild carries a full refund within 30 days. The Council carries a full refund until the start date, and deferral to the next Council after it.
Does it promise results?
No. It promises no health, income or relationship outcomes. It describes what you measure and work on, read against your own baseline, and asks one question all year: does your life increasingly behave as though what you know is true?
Who offers it?
Unbound Education, Inc., a public benefit corporation. Council payments are made by invoice from Unbound Education, Inc.
